I mean, neither is very effective, but not yelling is marginally more so. I wonder if maybe believing it will WORK BETTER is going to be the secret for me...

(Not that I will ever stop yelling...)Anonymousnoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-2684207784246972007.post-67506423171392192002013-03-30T19:18:19.903-04:002013-03-30T19:18:19.903-04:00I have my suspicions that it would require some su...I have my suspicions that it would require some superhuman skills (or perhaps some serious growing up on my part) to stop with the yelling. The fact that you seem patient and reasoned most of the time just makes the peek at reality that much more powerful. I am trying and trying and trying to learn that yelling accomplishes nothing, but I can't HELP IT. Yet. But I swear I will learn.Anonymousnoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-2684207784246972007.post-7845464785436462482013-03-28T22:37:25.290-04:002013-03-28T22:37:25.290-04:00"When will I ever finally learn that that is ..."When will I ever finally learn that that is never a good solution?"

Exactly!Sarahhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/17636810253795766740noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-2684207784246972007.post-39302802683581452532013-03-28T14:47:59.167-04:002013-03-28T14:47:59.167-04:00I can't understand why the banshee impersonati...I can't understand why the banshee impersonation does not work with my children either, I am so good at it, and really put my all in it, especially since I resort to it when dead tired and just needed a bit of sleep. But on the other hand, I have never been better at calming down instantly as I am now. When they start reacting to my shrieking, I always wonder what the freck did I have in mind and when will I ever finally learn that that is never a good solution? Anyway, congratulations for finding the perfect solution for your problem. I hope it gets better and better. Also he is SUCH a deep sleeper he has fallen out of beds and NOT WOKEN UP when traveling. (but the thump woke up the baby, of course, who wouldn't go back to sleep). I am the opposite and don't like messing with a good thing (good thing=11 hours of uninterrupted sleep for him)anahttps://www.blogger.com/profile/18320182732889825712noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-2684207784246972007.post-45991731044451659212013-03-27T22:10:33.184-04:002013-03-27T22:10:33.184-04:00I think I had the attitude of let's get it ove...I think I had the attitude of let's get it over and done with (a parenting tactic that I go with on occasion and which often backfires!). My son wasn't even eighteen months when we took him out of a crib, and my daughter was never in one in the first place (floor mattress).

I did cherish the faint hope that I might be training my daughter to stay in her bed by choice from the moment she got mobile and thus avoid these toddler battles. Yeah... not so much.Sarahhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/17636810253795766740noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-2684207784246972007.post-7085804665590598242013-03-27T16:44:31.516-04:002013-03-27T16:44:31.516-04:00Wow that sounds tough! Its amazing how being a total shrieking screaming banshee really does NOTHING to "scare them" into good behavior. It is so completely ineffective for my kids. Oh, and this? This is why my 3 year old is still in a crib....anahttps://www.blogger.com/profile/18320182732889825712noreply@blogger.com
